Birthdays, Christmas, and BABY #2

Our little Danny turned 3 on December 3. It was a Monday so I took a personal day at work and stayed home. It was totally worth it! Nick didn't work either so we spent the whole day playing and visitng family. Danny understandds holidays this year so we have had a blast!
My birthday is the day before Danny's. I'm 27 now, but I think I feel younger in my head. Mom mom makes the most amazing ice cream cakes!

Danny is really into taking our pictures right now, so I have lots of blurry pictures like this on my i phone...
 "Say cheese mommy."

"Say cheese daddy!"
Nick took the train to Virginia to attend a class for his Masters Degree. He was gone for a whole week! It was lonely and we missed him but we were SO excited for him to come home on Christmas Eve!
On to Christmas!
Danny LOVES everything about Christmas. He was so excited to see Santa at the ward party. His favorite Chrsitmas songs are Silent Night, We Wish a Merry Chrsitmas, and Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.
Danny sneaking candy off the gingerbread house with cousin Lane. They are one year apart.

Look at how big he is getting. My sister Amie gave me some of Cache's old clothes for Danny. When I pulled hem out and saw how big they were I thought they would be a little big for sure. But they weren't. They fit just right. Danny was so much fun on Christmas. It was hard for him to see presents under the tree and not open them so we watied until Christmas Eve to put out gifts.
Here is Danny opening his one gift from us. Money is tight after buying a house and paying for Nick's schooling so we could only get him one gift, but he was so grateful. He was adorable opening his gifts this year.

Baby #2
We shared the happy news on Christmas morning.
We made this card on Christmas Even and printed it off for our parents on Christmas moring. We like to procrastinate. I'm only about 8 1/2 weeks along but we thought it would be fun to share the news on Christmas with our families. We just gave them the card and waited for them to figure it out. It took a minute but they all got it eventually : )!
Now that it's actually happening I'm having memories of all the crazy changing (stretching) that my body will be doing and I'm a little nervouse. But it's natural right? I had such a good pregnancy and delivery with Danny. I hope I get lucky again! We are VERY excited. Danny is 3 now and a lot less jealous of me holding other kids. So far he just seems excited.

2012 is almost over and we have had a wonderful year. Life is never perfect, but I am so thankful to have Nick and Danny, a beautiful new home, and one more baby on the way to join our family. We have a lot to look forward to this coming year with Nick graduating and applying for a job, meeting our new baby, and enjoying all the changes in Danny as he grows. Yay for 2013!

Quick Catch Up

I haven't blogged for so long!

Things have been a little busy around here.

Two weeks after school started, an afternoon kindergarten position opened. I was so bummed that I took the second grade long term sub job, and thought that I was stuck there.

I was just getting the hang of teaching second grade, but I've wanted to try kindergarten for YEARS!

Well I told my principal how I was feeling. She said to go for it, so I did! Boy am I glad I talked to her because I LOVE my job!
Kinders are ADORABLE, but what I love most about it is that I have more time to hang out with Nick and Danny. Nick has been INSANELY busy with school work, but finals week is done and now he only has one class. It's so fun to watch movies, or go on walks without feeling like I'm keeping him from studying. We've been trying new recipes together recently too!

I love having the mornings with Danny and since I teach afternoons, it's no big deal if we stay up a little too late on school nights : ).

Every Friday when I pick up Danny, we go on an ice cream date.

Danny smile for my camera!
Wait, try to smile with your eyes open...
 Shoot now he's distracted.

Here's one example of how we spend our mornings.
Fishin' in the bathtub while mom gets ready.

Danny hangin' out again while mom gets ready.

Danny is sitting on the computer desk right now watching home videos from a year ago. Boy has he changed! It makes me a little sad sometimes, but I love the stage he's in right now. He gets really excited about birthdays and holidays which is so fun because so do I!
We took Danny to his first pumpkin patch over the weekend. He was pretty dang excited!

I couldn't believe all the pumpkins!
Danny picked a pretty good one!
Grandpa Dan's pumpkin. Going to the pumpkin patch was his idea : ).
Here I am directing him to the bigger and better pumpkins : ).
The hay ride. Danny's favorite part.

These last pictures are from Round Up week back in September.
Parades are so much more fun with toddlers.
We got free tickets to the Round Up concert. We saw Jake Owens and Lonestar.
We sat with Joe and Kierra, and Nick's fam.
During the concert I got the funniest text of my life from my sister Amie. Ask her about it the next time you see her.
Danny was crazy about the carnival. They're not my favorite, but he was so excited we had to go twice.
So that was a very quick update of the last month of our lives, but I hope you enjoyed it : ). Life is  good at the Leonard house.
